Philosophy of Education
My primary objective as an educator is to teach learners to ask and answer the toughest questions about surrounding "texts"--literature, conversations, ideas, people, events, the world. I believe that teaching inquiry and emphasizing depth over breadth of knowledge lead to the development of socially responsible, intellectually curious and critically self-aware lifelong learners whom the worlds of today and tomorrow need.
I am responsible for providing excellence in instruction, without excuse or exception, by seizing every opportunity to sharpen my craft and leverage useful human, technological and educational resources for the classroom.
I must create an inclusive and challenging educational environment where learners grasp the value of what I am teaching and knowledge, itself.
My knowledge and passion for instructional content and learning must be palpable and contagious.

Expectations
Expectations for my students:
Expectations for myself:
- Respect yourself, classmates and teachers. You don't have to agree with everyone's opinions, but you absolutely must respect cultural, religious, political, gender, socioeconomic and lifestyle differences.
- Challenge yourself. Never settle for a basic understanding of the class material; make every effort to reach your greatest human potential.
- Be diligent. I don't expect any student to know everything, but I do expect students to give their best effort. I am more impressed by a humble learner than an indifferent and or arrogant genius.
Expectations for myself:
- Respect each student. Respect his or her culture, religious and political beliefs and individuality.
- Have high expectations for myself and my students. Always.
- Focus on depth over breadth of knowledge.
- Teach students to think, not just to complete tasks or activities.
- Ooze with optimism, curiosity and compassion.
